Dr. Heba Kotb, 46, is the first certified Egyptian sex therapist. A private channel in the country airs, 'The Big Talk,' a show where she gives advice on sex-related issues. Unlike other sexologists in the world who base their advice on medical science, Kotb shares her expertise on sex based on the Quran teachings.
Kotb said Quran, the Holy Book of Islam, encourages people to have strong marital bonds between husband and wife on a sexual level.
'The Big Talk' is an utter surprise to the Islamic world as Kotb shows enormous maturity in openly discussing about private sensuality and sex. The non-Islamic viewers are stunned by her candid approach sharing her views without crossing the religious or cultural limits of the country.
Kotb talked about various aspects of her role as "Arab world's first Muslim sexologist" during her interview with VICE.
She shared her knowledge was extremely limited about sex since she was born in a conservative Muslim family. People hardly talked about it since it was a taboo. She too started believing that Islam had a 'depressing' approach on sex.
However, when she went to a tantra festival three years back, she came to know about a totally different approach. She became a tantra practitioner and began reading Islamic literature on sexuality. It was then she discovered different aspects of Islam, which encouraged sex in a great manner.
According to her Quran interpretation, one wins blessings if one satisfies the partner on a sexual level. She said it had been mentioned in the Quran that a man must not ejaculate before his partner reached orgasm. The Holy Quran also mentioned that both partners must smell good.Their nails should be manicured while their pubic hair must also be well-groomed. According to Kotb, the Quran encourages sexual appetite on a healthy level, stressing that Islam sex is something beautiful.
