‘Dracula’ 2013 Sneak Preview Before the Air Date [Watch Trailer and Photos]
Jonathan Rhys Meyers is out for revenge in "Dracula," as he plays the iconic character in the upcoming TV show. The character is portrayed very differently in the series. Here is a sneak preview of the show before the premiere.
"Dracula" is set in the late 19th century. The titular character is shown to be an enterprising business man from America, who has come to London to share the American technology with the Victorian society.
What technology would "Dracula" be interested in? Certainly not a machine that brings back the dead! But electricity, a technology which is taken for granted today. Before electricity, people lived in darkness with only a few candles to help them.
Electricity is very useful to "Dracula." A creature that roams about only in the night would welcome such technology, as it could potentially help people overcome their fears of the dark and venture out during the night!
But electricity is not the only thing "Dracula" is interested in. He has come to London to seek revenge against those who had cursed him with immortality. But there is romance in the air as he goes about his quest for vengeance.
"Dracula" meets a woman with a striking resemblance to someone in his past. The woman appears to be the reincarnation of his beloved dead wife. Will the infatuation with this woman guide him to the right path, or will he seduce her and make her join him for all eternity?
The first episode of the series is expected to cover some of the circumstances that made a man turn into a blood sucking beast. The images from the show suggest that it will be set in medieval Europe. It is also expected to cover his arrival to London.
The producers of the show include Carnivale Films, known for the Emmy Award-winning hit "Downton Abbey." Involved in production is director Steve Shill, known for dark-themed TV shows like "Dexter" and the historical series "The Tudours."
Another upcoming TV show eagerly awaited is the "Game of Thrones." Click here to read the spoilers of Season 4 -- someone comes back from the dead to take vengeance for the "Red Wedding."
"Dracula" will premiere on October 25. The cast of the show includes - Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Jessica De Gouw, Thomas Kretschmann, Katie McGrath, Nonso Anozie and Victoria Smurfit.
