The Australian Federal Police busted a huge drug racket as they seize drugs worth 200 million Australian Dollars. The drugs have been recovered from the truck tyres that were transported from China as the officials reported. The drug that has been found hoarded in the tyres is methamphetamine, also known as meth or ice.
The illegitimate enterprise carrying out this racket consisted of three men from Melbourne. They have been arrested as the officials laid their hands on more than 200 kilograms or 440 pounds of drug that was being transported from Shanghai, China.
A raid was carried out in the factory in Laverton, towards the West of Melbourne where the Australian police discovered the trucks concealing massive amount of drugs along with $80,000 of money, mobile phones and hard drives.
Out of the three men who have been arrested, the two work at the dock in the Melbourne. The gang includes a 59 year old, Altona Meadows man and two young Point Cook men of 29 and 25 years
The transportation made with the drugs had been received on Oct. 1 as per the reports.
Graham Krisohos, an official from Australian Customers and Border Protection Service revealed that the trucks looked normal at the first sight and nothing about the truck's appearance would arouse suspect. The drugs were only caught due to the X-ray machine that it had passed through. He also reports, the work of concealing the truck was done quite sophisticatedly and it needs the help of experts to uncover what is hidden.
The two young men have been charged for importing a controlled drug in commercial quantity and have attempted to possess it. On the other hand the elder man has been charged for possessing the controlled drug that has been unlawfully imported.
The charges of the three arrested men may lead to life imprisonment.
This is the latest seizure of drugs that has been conducted by the Australian Police. Very recently, the police made record capture of the drug called ephedrine.
