Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane underlined his goal scoring credentials with a hat trick for England Under-21's in a 4-0 win over their San Marino counterparts in their European Championship qualifier at Serravalle stadium.
The 20-year-old finds himself as Andre Villas-Boas' third choice forward behind Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe with Emmanuel Adebayor still a figure of exile at White Hart Lane, and will have boosted his hopes for the future with an impressive performance in a game also marked by an under-21 debut from West Ham United's Ravel Morrison.
Michael Keane gave the Three Lions the lead just five minutes into the game when the Manchester United defender reacted quickly to re-direct an effort from Raheem Sterling and scramble his effort over the line.
The visitors had chances to double their lead through efforts from Morrison and Blackpool winger Tom Ince who both fired over the bar with well struck efforts, but Gareth Southgate's side had to wait until the end of the half to add to their tally.
It was Sterling once again who broke into the box before he was taken down by San Marino shot stopper Andrea Manzaroli, who was shown a red card for his challenge on the Liverpool youngster.
Kane stepped up to score past substitute goalkeeper Massimo Francioni on the stroke of half time and England's domination over the ten man opposition predictably grew throughout the second half.
In his first appearance for any England youth side since 2010, Morrison was eager to build on his stunning start to the Premier League, but was denied a goal after an impressive save from Francioni, who was called upon again shortly to deny Kane from a point blank header.
But the Spurs striker added his second after his initial effort was parried by the San Marino 'keeper, slotting home at the second time of asking after 66 minutes.
Queens Park Rangers starlet Tom Carroll, on loan from Spurs, teed up his teammate Kane for his hat-trick minutes from full time, swinging in a cross from the right that the 20-year-old duly converted.
England have taken two wins from their opening three games of the 2015 European Championship qualifying campaign. Their next game takes place on October 15 against Lithuania.
