What Awaits Megan Young At Homecoming?
A warm and magnificent welcome awaits Megan Young as her first homecoming to celebrate her historic win as Miss World 2013. On Monday, October 14, at the resumption of its sessions the House of Representatives will honour Miss World 2013 Megan Young.
"We are very proud of her and we will surely give her at the very least a framed resolution to thank her for what she has done," said House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr.
The House independent bloc sought to honour Young for being the first Filipina Miss World earlier also.
"Now therefore, be it resolved as it is hereby resolved that the House of Representatives give commendation and honour to the newly crowned and the country's first-ever Miss World' titlist after sixty three years, to Miss Megan Lynne Young," read the resolution.
Miss World 2013 Megan Young is set to return to the Philippines Thursday, October 10 this will mark as her first homecoming since winning the title.
According to Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Francis Tolentino,

A vehicle carrying a huge LED screen will follow Young's float to show highlights from the young's journey to win coveted crown. Joining the convoy, are: a motorcycle group, a brass band, vintage car clubs and 15 horses.
While Young is all set to make several guest appearances on TV programs starting Saturday, she will also visit Malacanang, the Senate, Congress, and her hometown in Olongapo.
As this is very imperative part of Miss world 2013 first homecoming so her precedents and former 'StarStruck' friends give tips and suggestion to guide Young on her Miss World journey:
Margie Moran-Floirendo, Miss Universe 1973
"She should try to manage her time and emotions. Patience and humility are great values [to have]. She should be aware that her popularity comes with responsibility. She is in a position to influence the youth. Her winning is important because it boosts and restores the Filipinos' sense of pride. It's a respite from our disappointment in our political leaders."
Gemma Cruz-Araneta, Miss International 1964
"Congratulations, Megan! Never rest on your laurels so your reign will not just be for a year but for life. Love the Philippines always and never do anything that will tarnish our country's image."
Melanie Marquez, Miss International 1979
"She should always pray for guidance and protection. She should always be thankful to God for her blessings. She should stick to her good old support system-her parents, siblings, relatives, friends- who stood by her before she became famous."
Jennifer Cortes, Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 1978
"What an exciting year for Filipino beauties. First, Mutya Johanna Datul won Miss Supranational and now Megan, Miss World. Both of them worked so hard and represented the Philippines very well. Congratulations to both of them! I saw the interview of Megan's mom, where she advised the beauty queen to be kind always. I second that and would like to add, to be grateful always. Surround yourself with people who will continue to uplift you. Keep your family close, as they are your best supporters. Stay focused on your goal to be the best Miss World. Help others and your blessings will abound. Enjoy the journey!"
Bessie Badilla, Miss Visayas-RP 1976
"I don't have any tips for Megan because she already knows what she needs to do to inspire our countrymen. Listening... made me believe that she is a Filipino who is not just a pretty face but is very intelligent. She is sincere and there is no doubt that she will do her job well."
Maria Isabel Lopez, Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 1982
"Megan did a great job. She was destined to win and make a difference in this world. She should use her beauty as a tool for good to prevail."
Miriam Quiambao, Miss Universe, first runner-up 1999
"I'm so proud of her. She truly deserves the crown. I was so happy that she spoke in Filipino to thank our kababayan after winning. May she continue to be grateful, humble... and [focused] in pursuing her goal. It's going to be a great year! May she be the best Miss World ever."
Evangeline Pascual, Miss World, first runner-up 1973
"Begin with yourself and enjoy the ripple effect. God has blessed the Philippines with beauty."
Ruffa Gutierrez, Miss World, second runner-up 1993
"Megan has conquered the world. She has beauty and brains. I don't need to give her any tips. I am certain she will excel as our country's ambassador to the world."
Precious Lara Quigaman, Miss International 2005
"Enjoy every moment. You should grab every opportunity to help other people while not forgetting to take care of yourself, too. The year will pass in a blur so savor every minute of it."
LJ Reyes, First Princess, 'StarStruck' 2004
"Megan is not only physically beautiful, she has the sincere and loving heart of a true Filipino. But at the same time, she is tough and wise, like other modern women. Our baby is now a queen. We will always be here to support her in all her endeavors."
Ryza Cenon, Ultimate Female Survivor, 'StarStruck' 2004
"During the contest, she was our baby. She was shy and easily rattled by challenges. But two years ago, I noticed that she became strong and independent. She took on the role of guardian, taking care of her younger siblings, Victor and Lauren, when her mom Vicky left for the United States. I know she can make it. I cried when she won. We used to talk about her dreams... but now Megan has made history as the first Filipino to win the title of Miss World."
