Former Arsenal striker Eduardo feels that Shakhtar Donetsk can secure a second group stage victory in the Champions League when they face Manchester United at the Donbass Arena on Wednesday evening.
It has been a difficult year for the Ukrainian giants who have seen a host of their big name players depart the club. Willian joined Anzhi Makhachkala in January, before subsequently joining Chelsea, while earlier this summer Henrikh Mkhitaryan made the move to Borussia Dortmund and Fernandinho was signed by Manchester City.
Despite losing these influential players and currently sitting third in the league after 11 matches, Eduardo is confident that they can overcome a struggling Manchester United side to make it two wins from their opening two Champions League games.
Having already beaten Real Sociedad 2-0, Eduardo is targeting victory over United, telling The Sun: "We have the opportunity to win this game. United may be in trouble but they are still strong and we have to concentrate.
"But they will be under pressure even if the teams have a different mentality in the Champions League and raise their game.
"We beat Arsenal here a few years ago and Chelsea last season. We always play very well at home."
Manchester United currently lie 12th in the Premier League and it has been a difficult start to life at Old Trafford for David Moyes. However, the former Everton boss oversaw an impressive first victory in Europe's elite competition as the club secured a 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen.
Eduardo will hope Shakhtar can inflict more misery on United, especially as his former club Arsenal are currently sitting top of the Premier League table and have won their last ten games in all competitions.
The 30 year old was a firm fan favourite during his three years at Arsenal but struggled to demonstrate his best form after suffering a horrific injury in February 2008 when he suffered a broken left fibula and open dislocation of his left ankle.
Since leaving the Emirates Stadium for the Donbass Arena, Eduardo has won three league titles and three Ukrainian Cups with Shakhtar.
