Filipinos came into rescue to defend the newly-crowned Miss World Megan Young when a certain Facebook user (Devina DeDiva) calls her victory a joke and dismissing the Philippines as a country of maids. After her Facebook status was made public, Filipino netizens immediately made a "hate page" entirely dedicated to this Facebook user who is allegedly based in Singapore and studied at Machester University.

The things is, this certain Devina Dediva doesn't know is that, when you mess with one Filipino you mess with the whole country. Many blog sites have been abuzz for several hours posting her Facebook status from all over the web and her name is the number one trending topic on Twitter.
In a country with 97 million population, this basher doesn't know who she's messing with when she posted her racist status saying, "Miss Philippines is Miss World? What a joke! I did not know those maids have anything else in them Ha Ha Ha."
Inquirer, a local newspaper in the Philippines tried to reach the Facebook user for comment but to no avail. Bibeth Orteza, a scriptwriter/actress asked Facebook if this certain user is real, "But is DeDiva even her real name? Is that a surname typical from that part of the world...a cowardly pseudonym...or a play on 'diva?'"
Former Filipino beauty queens have come to Young's defense and aired their opinions against racism.
"To all her detractors, bless your hearts. That's all I can say. I am proud of and grateful for Megan's simplicity and golden heart," told Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez to the Inquirer.
Gemma Cruz-Araneta, Miss International 1964, asked pointedly: "What's wrong with being a maid? Is that a crime?"
Miriam Quiambao, Miss Universe first runnerup 1999, says: "I have nothing to say (to those critics). Let Megan show the world how great she is as a Filipino woman. Meanwhile, let's all do our best to uplift our country by giving nobility to our jobs...wherever we are. This is a call for everyone to step up and show the world that we are kind, God-fearing people."
Jennifer Cortes, Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 1978, quipped: "Seems the Philippines has become a powerhouse (in the pageant scene). Lots of people are getting envious. Sad about the personal attacks, but we are a country of beautiful people."
Fashion model and Miss Visayas-RP 1976 Bessie Badilla quipped: "They are just sore losers. We shouldn't waste our time on them. Let us enjoy Megan's victory and ignore those who do not wish to celebrate with us."
