The iOS 7 has been received with mixed feelings. On the one hand, it is the inevitable future for iOS users. But at the same time, it still has a slew of issues that need to be fixed.
For now, there are problematic features that may get in the way of an optimised experience, but luckily, fixes are now available.
Vertigo, nausea, and vomiting-these are just some of the symptoms that one can get when using the iOS 7. Though not everyone has started to feel dizzy every time they use their newly iOS 7-installed iDevices, there are those who may not be attuned to the moving background effect of the new OS.
If you are one of the people who are experiencing this, there is now a way to turn off the moving effect. Phone Arena listed the four easy steps to disable the parallax effect:
- Open the Settings app
- Go to General
- Then Select Accessibility
- Activate "Reduce Motion"
Doing the steps above will disable the movement of the background in your device even if you tilt it when using it for games.
Missing surnames of contacts
In the iOS 7, the contact names that flash as notification for messages no longer display the surname. Considering that you may know a few friends with the same first names, this may prove to be very inconvenient, as you never know if it will be an urgent text from a close friend Anna or just an acquaintance Anna's wrong send.
To avoid this kind of problem, you can restore the same setting that you had back in iOS 6. Telegraph reports that you only need to follow these steps:
- Access Settings and go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Select Contacts, then choose Short Name.
- From here, you can select any of the following options, First & Last Initial, First Initial & Last Name, or Last Name Only.
Control Center for apps
A new feature that comes with the iOS 7 is the Control Center. It is a great new feature that lets you easily access the settings in the iOS 7. But just as it is convenient, it can also be quite an inconvenience for those who are not used to it.
Beside this, gamers would benefit from turning off the Control Center. According to Wired, some games require the entire screen for you to work with, and the new Control Center can be accidentally pulled up when you swipe over it.
To turn it off, simply go to Settings and Control Center. Select Access Within Apps off. You won't be removing the feature when you are in the lock screen or the home screen.
Locks screen issues
Security issues have been very rampant with the new iOS 7, especially with the bug that lets other users get through the Lock screen passcode.
iDownloadblog has found the documentation of how to override the lock screen and gain access to apps, personal files, and even online accounts with just the use of complex taps on the screen. Because of this, Apple has already issued the release of the iOS 7.0.2 to fix the bug.
The update is worth 21 MB of storage, but there is still a warning to jailbroken devices regarding updating to the iOS 7.
Incompatibility of apps
Since it is a new OS, you can expect that not all apps will be optimised for the iOS 7. If anything, there may be lagging issues or crashes in the existing apps that you have when you run the iOS 7.
ZDNet reports that the incompatibility issue may also result in some apps disappearing even when they were available before. This may simply be because the approval for the updates of some apps as they transition to the iOS 7.
Not giving in to the iOS 7 fever can also mean that you will give up on the apps that are optimised for Apple's newest operating system. Apple has started to roll out a more aggressive invitation to app developers that would aim to create apps especially for the iOS 7. This is not surprising considering that the company has already made the switch inevitable, as seen by those who can no longer downgrade to iOS 6.
