Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar was discharged from hospital on Thursday following an improvement in his health.
The 90-year-old thespian was rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on 15 September after suffering a mild heart attack. He was shifted to the general ward on Sunday after spending a week in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who visited the ailing actor on Monday, had earlier revealed on his blog that the family of the veteran actor was planning to take him home soon.
"I had never met him so ... in bed, in hospital, ailing and troubled and harassed by all the medical fuss around him .. Dilip Kumar !! the great thespian, the wonder of Indian cinema, the ultimate performer in my eyes, lying there in Lilavati Hospital, recovering from a recent mild heart attack!" wrote Amitabh after the visit.
"Out of the ICU, it's good to be in the hospital suite and have @SrBachchan as a visitor," Dilip Kumar had earlier posted on his Twitter account, along with a picture of himself with Amitabh, wife Saira Banu and brother-in-law Sultan Ahmed.
Dilip Kumar has acted in over 60 films in a career spanning over six decades. He acted in all genres of films and was described as "Tragedy King" for his heart-moving roles.
