Manchester United will take on Liverpool in the third round of the Capital One Cup on Sunday at Old Trafford as they look to avenge their 1-0 defeat at Anfield in the Premier League.
Where to Watch Live
Kick-off is set for 7:45pm BST. Live coverage of the game will be available on Sky Sports 2, Sky Sports 2 HD and Sky 3D.
United will be looking to shed their disappointment from the weekend where they put in a horrendous performance against Manchester City which led to a 4-1 humiliation at the Etihad. The game against Liverpool will be a major test for David Moyes who has to get the crowd back on his side after the embarrassment against City and prove that he is still the right man to take the club forward.
United were never at the races in the first half as City created multiple chances and carved out a two goal lead. The second half was equally frustrating for the defending champions, conceding two more in quick succession and it was only in the 86th minute that a brilliant free kick from Wayne Rooney restored some semblance of pride to the result. Moyes' side have collected only seven points from a possible 15 thus far this season and have managed only one point from their three games against Liverpool, City and Chelsea.
Liverpool will be bolstered by the return of Luis Suarez who has served his 10 game ban and will be available for selection against United. Brendan Rodgers will be relieved by his return, with Philippe Coutinho having to undergo shoulder surgery which will rule him out till the end of October. The Reds have been in prime form this season, having won three of their first five games and are currently in fourth position, having led the table up until last weekend.
What the Managers Say
David Moyes: "To get back on and play again is the best way to do it. You can't dwell too much on it. We're looking forward to getting the next game started and hopefully trying to win. I'm still getting to know all the players here and I have got a chance to get to know a few more of them this week and we'll see what they can do."
Brendan Rodgers: "It has been a really difficult time for him not playing games. How he has prepared himself over the last number of weeks has been fantastic."
