The unparalleled chemistry of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler has been tested and proven over the years of working in Saturday Night Live and other projects. It was confirmed to Ryan Seacrest during an interview with the "30 Rock" star at the 2013 Emmys that she has been asked to co-host for next year's Golden Globe award in Beverly Hills.
"Have you asked Amy yet, because we literally said we're going to talk about it tonight because we haven't seen each other," Fey explained.
Fey and Poehler have been doing some projects on the opposite side of coasts and haven't been able to discuss the hosting invitation. "NBC has invited us," Fey added. "We're going to talk about it tonight!"
The next year's 71st Golden Globe Awards is scheduled for Sunday, January 14, the funny duo is rumored to comeback for yet another year of hosting the Golden Globes. It's a no-brainer after Fey and Poehler pulled in a massive 19.7 million viewers with outstanding reviews, a 17% increase from a year before, that this two hosts will get invited for the second time around.
Thanks to their onstage chemistry and hysterical jokes this pair dazzles on their first hosting gig at the Golden Globes. Who can ever forget when the duo pointed out the talented and lovely Anne Hathaway, who was nominated for her role in "Les Miserables", the due praised her work in the film as a destitute young woman and then followed it up by saying they haven't seen anybody so alone and abandoned since she was onstage with James Franco at the Oscars.
That joke was a definite hit that Hathaway cringed and covered her face with her hands in response to the joke. Poehler also made a joke when she spoke about Kathryn Bigelow's directorial work on the "Zero Dark Thirty", she said, "when it comes to torture, I trust a lady who spent three years married to James Cameron."
Although nothing is official yet, but many fans are keeping their fingers crossed for these two SNL alum to host the much awaited award show. "Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together," NBC alternative programming president Paul Telegdy said in a statement.
So the question for now is, will there be a second act? According to Theo Kingma, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, he hopes that the two most respected comedienne in the industry will return to co-host the show.
