Asus has been getting praises for manufacturing some of the best tablets around on the market today. Some of these include the more affordable line of Memo Pad HD 7 and FonePad. Asus is not stopping there. The company also just released the Asus Memo Pad FHD 10. With Google's Nexus 10 also around, which 10-inch tablet is better?
Asus Memo Pad FHD 10
As the name implies, the Asus Memo Pad FHD 10 features a 10.1-inch IPS display. The top brightness is not as vibrant as other tablets at 325cd/m2, but it should be enough for the standard user. Contrast configuration is around a solid 1,016:1. All in all, the screen is sharp enough to deliver excellent user experience.
Users will not be able to differentiate the FHD10 from the highest resolution tablet around if they hold it more than 10 inches away from them. The difference is not as evident therefore the device offers just enough clear display.
For its price range, Asus FHD 10 competes directly with Google's Nexus 10. It is not far behind in terms of specs so it is not only the price which gives Asus a competitor status against Google. After all, Asus also produces tablets for Google, namely: first generation and second generation Nexus 7.
Compared to the Nexus, FHD 10 is 17% lighter. It weighs 566g. This makes the device comfortable to grip and for longer periods. The dimpled-plastic finish on the device also provides a softer feel. Other specs include: microSD slot for expandable storage, dual-core, Hyper-Threaded, 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 2GB RAM and Android 4.2.2.
Google Nexus 10
Many analysts pointed out before that companies should not aim for an iPad price on their devices unless they can rival Apple with quality. The iPad has been the leading 10-inch tablet on the market. That is not until Google decided to come up with their Nexus 10. The 10-inch slate is now considered as one of the top contenders around.
Google has already proved a force to be reckoned by manufacturing portable devices especially with the Nexus 7. As the name indicates, the display is 10.1 inches. It offers a resolution support at 2560 x 1600. Pixel density is at 300ppi. iPad is behind since it only offers a resolution support of 2048 x 1536. Pixel density is at 264ppi.
Google offers the best or highest resolution for slates today.
The images and videos are as sharp as they can be. People can view web pages and ebooks clearly. They can also watch Full HD videos without any problem.
The IPS panel of the Nexus 10 is bright. Brightness is at 415cd/m2. It also features 807:1 contrast ratio. These two numbers are not far from iPad's features: 426cd/m2 and 906:1. The only downside of the Nexus 10 is its physical design. The device features plastic instead of metal.
