Former Arsenal winger Robert Pires believes the record transfer addition of Mesut Ozil can inspire the Gunners to the Premier League title this season.
After a run of four successive league wins following the opening day defeat to Aston Villa, the north Londoners are the early pace-setters at the league's summit - the latest victory coming against Stoke City.
And Pires, who won two league titles during six years at Arsenal, says the club have the right mix to challenge for domestic honours this season after eight years without a major trophy.
"It's possible [for Arsenal to win] because now the young players have grown up and have more experience," Pires told Goal.com. "They also have a good mix for [Arsene] Wenger. If you put Ozil in the middle, I think it's a very good mix for Arsenal.
"[Ozil's] a very good player, he plays for the German national team, he played for Real Madrid, now he's playing for Arsenal. He has the experience. I think the football will be more simple now.
"Seriously, I think Arsenal have a good potential to win the Premiership. For the Champions League I don't know but the most important thing is to focus on the Premiership because it is very important for the club and for the fans."
Ozil has made an immediate impact for Arsenal, setting up Olivier Giroud for the opener against Sunderland on his debut before playing a part in all three goals in the win over Stoke.
Amid a midfield injury crisis at Arsenal, Ozil appears to be already complimenting the likes of Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey while Abou Diaby and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are still to return from injury.
The Gunners' impressive start to the season is all the more admirable by their lack of options due to injury but former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says Arsenal's title credentials will be truly tested when they face their rivals on the road.
"They're playing very well at the moment, they're top of the league and that's exactly where you want to be," Carragher said.
"The Aston Villa result seems a long time ago now and they've come on leaps and bounds since then. But there are a lot of big games to come and they will need to prove themselves in them.
"Once they start mixing it with the big teams and beating them away from home - that's when I think we'll see if Arsenal have a real chance of winning the title."
Wenger's side do indeed travel to two of their main title rivals Manchester United and Manchester City before the turn of the year, fixtures which are sandwiched by the visit of Liverpool and Chelsea.
