The not-so-shocking news came on Perez Hilton's site yesterday. Earlier reports have said that the Real Housewives of New Jersey franchise had "fictionalized" the lives of the women involved and even made some Housewives' more evil than they were.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey
The release form suggests more to the viewers, not simply altering by means of cutting unimportant scenes but by cutting the scenes to make it look more controversial and more exciting to the audience. Tampering with the materials of the reality show is permitted under the Appearance Form that TV producers have given the participant Housewives.
The form is the biggest proof that reality shows nowadays aren't really about reality but about "faking it" or making their lives larger than it seems. It goes to show that reality shows are more about showing what the audience wants like more drama, more sneaky catfights even cheating boyfriends and spouses.
The contract reveals that the reality celebs should conform into the story that is to the producers' liking. The contract reads:
"The rights granted herein shall also include the right to edit, delete, dub and fictionalize the Footage and Materials, the Program and the Advertisements as Producer sees fit in Producer's sole discretion," from RadarOnline
And the most stunning of all the clauses is the one that says: "They will not be paid for participating. "I hereby waive any and all rights I may have to any compensation whatsoever." Can you believe that these rich women are not even paid for their appearance to the show and seen as "volunteers?" People can't believe that these Housewives were all after the 15 minutes to fame since it sounds "stupid."
Some personalities of the franchise also doubted to be even existing at all, as one clause says that the characters' makeup and clothes are upon the discretion of the producer.
This news doesn't surprise the public because they "know how these reality shows work." "Radar Online released a Bravo contract and it seems reality stars have no control over their own image...crazy!" user @OldSchoolBeauty comments.
But how does the contract revelation affect the reality show of "Real Housewives of New Jersey?" Nothing much "...but you know people don't want to hear the truth. (...). As long as you have people out here who want to stan (star) for reality stars, they will NEVER go away." as user DominiquesWords puts it.
