Nokia Sirius has been gaining interest for some weeks now. When @evleaks tweeted a leaked photo, it became evident that Nokia is getting serious about offering a slate on the market. And @evleaks is at it again. The notorious Twitter leaker just provided information that the tablet will be revealed this October 22.
GFXBench and Bluetooth SIG also reported on the device before. Previously dubbed as Nokia Sirius, the new tablet will be called the Lumia 2520. For those familiar with the Lumia mobile handset series of the company, expect the slate to offer the same quality and experience.
The Nokia Lumia 2520 will run on Windows 8. So far, the reported specs include: Snapdragon 800 SoC with a clock speed of 2.15GHz, 10.1 inch full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution support, 6.7MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and 2GB RAM. It will also reportedly come with 32GB internal storage, detachable keyboard, USB ports at the back, micro HDMI port and WiFi.
According to @evleaks, the tablet will also be first available through Verizon. It is highly likely that Nokia will offer two sets of finishes: black and red. The black finish is a relatively new information as previous leaks only revealed a red finish. Other than that, there are no details about whether Nokia will make other color options.
People will have to wait for official announcements for more details. Nokia has yet to provide details about the price and other specs. Official photos of the devices have also yet to come out. If the company pushes through with this slate then they will be running against Sony's Xperia Z Ultra, Google's Nexus 7 and even Apple's iPad. Apple will supposedly release their iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 in October.
The market will see a stiffer tablet competition this coming month. Users will do well to study each spec to make sure they are getting a good deal. Asus has also been putting out a series of slates that can compete with Nokia's Lumia 2520. Previously, the company releases their MemoPad and PadFone devices.
