Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini has revealed team-mates vented their anger in the St James' Park dressing room after defeat to newly promoted Hull City.
Loic Remy had twice given the Magpies the lead but Robbie Brady, Ahmed Almohamady and Sony Aluko struck to give Steve Bruce victory on his return to the north east.
After three successive wins against Morecambe, Fulham and Aston Villa, defeat halts Newcastle's recent improvement and according to Coloccini words were exchanged after the full time whistle.
"There were bad feelings after Hull - frustration, anger and everything you would expect," Coloccini said.
"But we have a game on Wednesday and we have to turn the page right now. We must look to the next game.
"If we want to be serious about being in the top 10 or look to bigger things or be a big team in the Premier League, we have to start to take the chances we have. If not, we are going to have problems.
"We do not want to be like we were last season. We ended the season fighting against relegation - we can't have that again, so we have to look at our mistakes and keep going.
"When we have chances to beat teams like Hull, we have to take them. We have to learn. Now we have to look to Leeds, get the win and go through in the Cup."
Following a difficult start to the season which included a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Manchester City on the opening weekend, Newcastle had built some momentum with three back-to-back wins, with Hatem ben Arfa scoring in both leagues win over Fulham and Villa.
But the loss to Hull sets Newcastle up for trips to Everton and Cardiff City and the home game against Liverpool in a losing frame of mind, leaving manager Alan Pardew frustrated.
"It's about momentum and we've thrown it out of the window," said Pardew. "We had that momentum and everyone was feeling good with a victory appearing on the cards but that is what the Premier League does, unfortunately; you have to be consistent to get the win you need.
"This is a place where we need to crank it up all the time and keep the pressure on. Once we scored, we went down a gear and that is sometimes enough to give hope to the opposition. The whole team could have done more defensively."
