Emmy Awards 2013: Homeland Star, Damian Lewis Says Winning Emmys is Just a “Bonus” [PHOTOS]
"The Newsroom" star, Jeff Daniels, wins big at the Emmy Awards 2013, beating out "Homeland" star, Damian Lewis. Claire Danes' onscreen lover is again nominated for the lead actor in the drama series category, and Claire Danes’ onscreen sweetheart is singing a different tune a year after he first won the same award in 2012. But for Lewis, winning is just a bonus.
If Damian, who plays Sgt. Nicholas Brody, was all excited to be nominated and bringing home the top award, this year, the war hero turned terrorist believes winning the award will be just a “bonus.”
Damian made the statement at the pre-Emmys exclusive party hosted by Showtime as he emphasized that working with great people he considered as an even bigger win.
While his character Brody was not afraid to blow himself up at the bunker with the country’s top officials including the Vice President of the United States of America, Damian admits feeling vulnerable at this year’s nomination - - unlike last year.
"I feel kind of vulnerable, to be honest. I feel a little bit like I've got the heavyweight title around my belt and someone might yank it off me," Lewis was quoted as saying at an interview at Showtime's "Emmy Eve" party held at the Sunset Tower Hotel on Saturday, Sept. 21.
But the man still knows what to do on the eve of the Emmy Awards 2013.
"I think the best way to approach this whole weekend is to enjoy being nominated. It's fun being surrounded by all these incredible people. If you win, it's a bonus," he noted.
Lewis will be competing against other great actors in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category. Scroll down to check out the nominees who could snatch away the crown from Damian Lewis.

The “Emmy Eve” party at West Hollywood, Calif, also paved the way for more hints from Lewis for what’s in store for "Homeland's" millions of devoted, if not too addicted, followers.
"I think this year is darker and more grown up and hard-boiled and psychologically precise. I think people are going to be wowed," Lewis hinted of the show that was set to kick off in 1 week.
Showtime’s "Homeland" premieres on Sept. 29, (9 p.m. ET/PT).
