'The X Factor USA' 2013: Week 2 Shows Even Lower Ratings than Premiere Episode; Is Simon Cowell Still in a 'Good Place'? [PHOTOS/VIDEO]
Is this the end for ‘The X-Factor USA’? The third series of the Fox’s reality show has surprised TV enthusiasts and insiders when the network allowed it to air even after the first two seasons failed to attract audiences. But it looks like a third season is not a charm, especially for media mogul, Simon Cowell.
The British mogul has been receiving a lot of flaks lately following the show’s failure to deliver in numbers.
Its premiere episode recorded 6.45 million viewers, almost one million shy of the 7.5 recorded viewers who went to see Britney Spears on the show the first time. Other reports claim Season 2 even had 9 million viewers in 2012. And the latest number is a lot lower than the 12.5 million viewers who tuned in on Season 1 premiere in 2011.
While officials and critics hoped that the second week will deliver, 'The X Factor USA' again failed to meet expectations on week two as it recorded an even lower number of viewers at 6 million.
Things are not looking up for Simon Cowell as the show continues to under-perform at Wednesday night’s edition. The new number has increased threats to axe the show’s creator and soon-to-be dad.
Doess the increasing decline of 'The X-Factor USA' mean Season 3 will be the show’s last on air and the curtain will no longer go up for the reality competition after it goes down this year?

RadioTimes.com pointed out in a report that last Wednesday sources close to Cowell were careful to say 'The X Factor' head judge is in a “good place.”
The show’s insiders also claimed that 'The X Factor USA,' indeed, has in store great things going for this season. They just need eyes to view them and affirm the good change.
“We have got a good series this year, we just need more people to watch it," the source added.
Could Cowell afford to relax following the continuous slump in ratings?
