Andrew Devenport is chief executive of Youth Business International (IBT)
Youth unemployment has become an increasingly big problem in some parts of the world, reaching eye-watering rates in places such as Greece and Spain.
In the UK, the number of jobless young people still hovers below a million.
However, one of the answers may be to stoke the entrepreneurial fire within young people so they can not only make work for themselves, but perhaps even create it for others too.
IBTimes UK went to the Youth Business International (YBI) global 2013 Young Entrepreneur Awards, where budding Indian mogul Sharad Tandale, 32, was crowned victor for his engineering start-up.
Tandale overcame community barriers and family opposition to create Innovation Engineers & Contractors - which now employs 175 people.
At the event, IBTimes UK caught up with Andrew Devenport, YBI chief executive.
