Liverpool and Newcastle United have been handed a major boost in signing Andre Ayew after Marseille winger expressed his desire in making a move to the Premier League club in the future.
The Express reports that Brendan Rodgers' side and the Tyneside club are believed to be interested in signing Ayew. The 23-year-old was linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 club, but no deal took shape leaving him to continue with his current employers.
Ayew played down the rumours suggesting that he had asked the club to leave in the summer transfer. In addition to this, he admitted the competition between top teams appeals him as he is keen on making a move to England in the future.
"I did not finish last season saying that I was leaving OM. I like a bit of everything: the atmosphere, the game, the fans. When I talk with friends who are there, they tell me the mentality is different. There is a lot of intensity. It is a beautiful championship," the Express quoted Ayew as saying.
"There are beautiful clubs: Chelsea, Liverpool, both Manchester clubs, Newcastle, Everton, Tottenham... They all play well in beautiful stadiums and can beat anyone at any time. There are seven teams that can fight to be in the top five and it changes. It's good. I'd like to move one day, but I'm in no hurry. I'm 23 and I'm still at OM, a great club," he added.
Meanwhile, Marseille failed to win the first game at the European stage after losing the Champions League fixture 2-1 to Arsenal. Ayew remains confident his side can still progress to the round of 16, despite their latest defeat to the Gunners.
Bourssia Dortmund and Napoli are the other two teams pitted in Group F, with the latter defeating the last season's finalists 2-1 in the other fixture played on Wednesday evening.
"We have to remain ambitious. While we're here, it's important not to throw in the towel. We're going to give it everything in Dortmund anyway. It's make or break. But as we said to each other, what do we have to lose in this situation? Nothing, I assure you. We'll be going to Germany with one thing on our minds," the winger explained.
