The Chinese and Korean spikers have been dominant to say the least with convincing victories in the preliminary rounds and their respective opening games in the second round.
China won in straight sets against India (25-12, 25-12, 25-11), Iran (25-11, 25-16, 25-17), Philippines (25-9, 25-10, 25-8) and Chinese Taipei (25-11, 25-14, 25-11) to score 4 victories in four outings thus far.
Meanwhile, South Korea cruised in games against Myanmar (25-7, 25-11, 25-12), Sri Lanka (25-8, 25-6, 25-7), Chinese Taipei (25-14, 25-15, 25-13) and Iran (25-14, 25-10, 25-18) to remain perfect in this tournament which serves as a qualifier for the 2013 FIVB World Grand Champions Cup scheduled from Nov 12-17, 2013 in Japan.
The result of the China-South Korea game will decide which team will be the top seed in Pool F and will meet Pool E’s last-ranked teams after the second round, most likely Team Vietnam, which will face hosts Thailand at 5 pm.
Kazakhstan (2-0), Japan (1-1), Thailand (1-1) and Vietnam (0-2) belong to Pool E, and China (2-0), South Korea (2-0), Iran (0-2) and Chinese Taipei (0-2) make up Pool F. Only the games against the teams which advanced to the second round will be taken into consideration for the quarterfinals pairing.
After the second round, the top team in each group will be facing the fourth-ranked or bottom team in the other group. The second-ranked team faces the third-ranked team and so on. (E1 vs. F4, E2 vs. F3, E3 vs. F2, E4 vs. F1)
