The Bachelor, Australia Season 1
On Sunday night, only 576,000 viewers tuned-in to watch the third episode of "The Bachelor" Australia that stars Tim Robards as the eligiable bachelor, according to media reports. It was a distant fourth in its time-slot. "X Factor," with a viewership of 1.44 million was a clear winner in the same "The Bachelor" time slot, followed by "60 Minutes" and ABC's "Supersized Earth."
The premiere episode of Australia's "The Bachelor" was watched by 669,000 viewers. "Channel Ten's The Bachelor has shed almost 100,000 viewers since debuting last week, sinking to an audience of 576,000 in the five major metropolitan capitals," The Age reports.
"The Bachelor" Australia, hosted by Osher Gunsberg, is reportedly getting a Wednesday evening time-slot, starting this week.
"We are very proud of The Bachelor and moving it to Wednesday nights will give it an opportunity to reach more Australians," a Ten spokesman said, as quoted by The Australian.
"The Bachelor has clearly struck a chord with some viewers, particularly women. The Bachelor is also a hit online, with almost 800,000 online video views of the first two episodes and a high level of engagement on social media."
Channel Ten picked up Sydney based 30-year-old chiropractor to be "The Bachelor" in the first season of the reality show. Lately, Robards has been in the news for being the topless entertainer and that Sherri Mathieson was one of the contestants on the show. Sherri is the daughter of Julia Gillard's partner, Tim Mathieson.
According to synopsis of the upcoming episode of "The Bachelor: "The single date this week sees Tim and one lucky Bachelorette doing hot laps around Eastern Creek, but the action off the track appears to be just as heated. Ten Bachelorettes team up to take one another down in a game of dodgeball."
