"Insidious 2" or "Insidious: Chapter 2" has been raking some serious cash in the cinemas this weekend. Positive reviews were also noted for the movie both from the critics and the social media users. But the movie-goers were still left hanging with the movie's ending, like the first "Insidious."
The low-budget film of only $5 million wins the box office race this weekend with $41 million worldwide beating even Insidious for its release. The Friday the 13th release sure helped because the theatres were packed by the weekend and were thrilled to be spooked out by the residents of the Further.
A lot of you who haven't seen the Insidious sequel or the movie might ask what is the buzz all about? James Wan, the Australian film director, has seemingly perfected the horror craft with his string of movies starting with the Saw franchise, up to his recent movies "The Conjuring" and "Insidious: Chapter 2." He calls his experience "cumulative filmmaking experience"
His formula for a great horror movie? Not simply scaring people but making people listen to the even freakier storyline. His partnership with Leigh Whannell is certainly a perfect match as Whannell creates a vivid, intriguing and disturbing script.
For this movie, we take a flashback about Josh and how he became involved in The Further because, as we all know, when Josh came back, he never really came back. And as you might guess too, there is a Chapter 3.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.
"The Insidious 2" is a continuation of the Insidious. Elise Rainer is dead but still helps the family uncover the truth. Renai Lambert is quite bothered knowing that Josh isn't Josh. Renai is also experiencing strange spiritual things including a woman in a white dress with whom Renai had a face-to-face encounter.
Another mysterious figure by the name of Parker Crane came up in the sequel. The team went to Crane's house and discovered new items regarding a "Dark Bride" serial killer, who is presumably Parker Crane himself.
In this movie, we see Dalton retrieving his father as opposed to the first movies where his father had retrieved him back. The child was smart enough to use cans and thread to know how to get back. Carl makes them forget of their astral projection abilities so they wouldn't be disturbed again.
As you might see, there is not much to tell with regards to the story, but the fear crawling in the movie when watching it is priceless.
But is it over? Not yet.
Because there is another girl who is haunted or possessed by the demon who had once captured Dalton.
How is it related to the Lamberts? We have no clue yet.
Catch the "Insidious: Chapter 2" in movie theatres, it's the best experience for horror films.
