Canadian handset manufacturer BlackBerry launched its 9720 smartphone in India with an affordable price tag of ₹15,990.
The 9720 smartphone, which was unveiled earlier last month, is BlackBerry's first handset for the Indian market this year. The smartphone comes in five variants of black, blue, pink, purple and white.
The smartphone has been in the news for having a dedicated BBM keypad and the 7.1 operating system. BlackBerry is presently trying to promote its revamped BB10 OS.

This new smartphone is absolutely stunning and provides an ideal choice for urban youth and customers who are looking to upgrade from a feature phone or existing BlackBerry Curve smartphone to an affordable, easy-to-use smartphone with rich messaging and social networking connectivity," said Sunil Lalvani, Managing Director for BlackBerry (India), reported NDTV Gadgets.
BB 9720 retains the 'Bold and Curve' look with its dimensions at 12mm in thickness and 120 grams in weight. The smartphone features a 2.8-inch (480×360 pixels) touchscreen display powered by an 806MHz Tavor MG1 processor with 512MB of RAM. Other specifications include a 512MB of inbuilt storage with the option to expand memory, 5-megapixel EDOF (Extended Depth of Field) primary camera with Image stabilization and 4X digital zoom,support for 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth, BBM and BBM Voice shortcut keys.
The smartphone is backed by a removable battery of 1,450mAh which is expected to give up to seven hours of talk time and 432 hours of standby time.
