Android 4.4 KitKat OS: 13 Samsung Galaxy Phones, Tablets Getting New and Fresh Life Cycle

Several Samsung devices are supposed to end their life cycle on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean including Galaxy SII and Note I. Fortunately, Google's Android 4.4 KitKat upcoming in October 2013 rumoured to feature an updated Linux kernel which supports low-memory devices. Android 4.2.2 and Android 5.0 List of Galaxy Devices

SamMobile posted a pre-list back in March 2013 which detailed Samsung Galaxy devices aging on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and some moving forward to Android 5.0. An insider from Samsung told SamMobile that Galaxy S2 and Note I are going to receive Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but that update would be the last.

Both the Galaxy SII and Galaxy Note I are upgradable to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean which initially run Android 2.3 and previously received Android 4.0 ICS. In addition to the two former flagship Galaxy gadgets, Samsung will only include five devices to receive Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

However, the winds have changed after Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat instead of Android 5.0. Google instead used "Key Lime Pie" as an internal reference to KitKat. AndroidCentral caught a tip which hints possibility of an updated Linux kernel currently under works. The build 3.8 Linux kernel will bring three amazing things to the Android ecosystem which includes:

-          Full support on NVIDIA Tegra and Samsung Exynos DRM drivers

-          Flash-Friendly File-System Support

-          Lower memory footprint which vital to support more devices
