Manchester United attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa has expressed his frustration at continually being ignored by club manager David Moyes. The player scored for Japan in their 3-1 against Ghana on Tuesday.
"Please ask David Moyes why I'm not in the side," Kagawa was quoted as saying in Daily Mail.
'It is frustrating not playing but to score a goal like that gives me confidence," he continued. "Hopefully I can take that back to my club with me and things will improve."
Given his obvious talent and exceptional form for Japan, it is surprising that he has not featured at all for United this season. If the situation continues to persist, then Kagawa may be forced to consider his future away from Old Trafford, as not playing regularly can severely curtail his development.
"It's hard not playing regularly," he explained. "Some days the frustration is worse than others; it comes in waves."
The player is happy to be back playing with his national team.
"It is nice to come back to Japan and get to play, and to score felt good," he said. "I just have to keep working hard and keep pushing for my chance. When I get back it will be a challenge to get into the team."
But the Japanese attacker will be ready when his chance comes.
"When I get back to my club I have to wait for my chance in the Champions League and the Premier League," he said. "I'm sure my chance will come."
With Kagawa's best position being behind the striker, he is in straight competition with Wayne Rooney at United. Considering hat Moyes fought tooth and nail to keep Rooney at the club in the summer, it seems the Englishman is currently favored over the Japanese star. The situation is likely to be closely monitored by clubs around Europe as the January transfer window approaches.
