Alan Pardew wants to speak with Yohan Cabaye and his representatives in order to make sure that the midfielder is committed to Newcastle United.
The France international was the subject of a bid from Arsenal, which was hastily rejected by Newcastle, while Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain repeatedly talked of their interest in the midfielder.
Cabaye then refused to play in the first two Premier League games of the season, before coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 home win over Fulham last Saturday.
The 27 year old was booed by some sections of the St. James Park crowd but Pardew is aware of how crucial it was for Cabaye to get back to first team action.
Now the Newcastle boss plans to meet with the player in order to make sure that he is fully committed to the club and will give his all as they look to improve upon a dreadful last campaign.
"It was important to get him out there (the pitch) on Saturday, it will make it easier to move on although there is a lot of talking to be done between now and Aston Villa," Pardew told the Newcastle Chronicle.
"We will speak with Yohan and with his representatives to make sure that we go forward hand-in-hand."
Cabaye was a surprise omission from the France squad ahead of this week's qualifiers against Georgia and Belarus, and while the player was surprised to learn of his exclusion, it seems Pardew is confident that he is still a big part of Didier Deschamp's plans.
"The guy has a World Cup at the end of the year and he is a big part of France's plans. He hasn't been picked this week and I think that was a bit of a shock to him," added Pardew.
"It was only because of the (transfer) situation, because I think he's nailed on in their team. That whole situation will resolve itself."
