Metallica's forthcoming treat, an IMAX 3D concert movie, "Metallica Through The Never, is coming out to be a total "epic ride" with concert footage and a plot. The trailer of the film teases fans with a gruesome car crash followed by a riot both in and out of the concert grounds. We wonder if the fans expected something like this from the concert movie, but that is what is happening in the trailer.
The trailer then shows Metallica pummelling the crowd with "Master Of Puppets," and soon the stage is shown with erupting flames and the band blitzkrieging the song. It also shows police and protestors crashing and ends with the car-crash victim chased by a devilish horseman.
Hungarian director Nimród Antal roped in newcomer Dane DeHaan, who is playing a fictional member of Metallica's road crew. According to a report by Rolling Stone, the film has footage from three shows recorded in Vancouver last Aug. with a plot.
Talking about the song, "Master Of Puppets" from the soundtrack, double horns to the guy who mixed it because we can hear Robert Trujillo's bass, loud and clear. The live rendition of this song from "Metallica Through The Never" is available for pre-order, here. Blackened Recordings will be releasing a two-disc set on Sept. 24 and the soundtrack will also be made available via digital download and on 33 1/3 rpm vinyl along with limited-edition 45 rpm vinyl scheduled to release this fall, reported by Rolling Stone.
"Let's hear it for the old-school soundtrack!" said drummer Lars Ulrich. "Not only are we beyond psyched about our movie coming your way shortly, but the fact that we get to share the music directly in all these formats is way f**kin' cool," said Lars to Rolling Stone.
"Metallica Through The Never" will hit the IMAX 3D theatres on Sept. 27, with world-wide release on Oct. 4.
