Jack Nicholson Retiring from Acting; Top Reasons He’s Given up on Hollywood [PHOTOS/VIDEO]
Curtains for Jack Nicholson have quietly rolled down as he reportedly retires from acting “without much fanfare,” and that’s “as good as it gets” for his colorful career in Hollywood, which even created a life of its own as it allegedly ends at 76.
The news of Nicholson’s retirement has been causing an uproar on the internet with some fans, apparently not willing to let him go, just yet.
Citing an unnamed source by the Radar Online, the New York Daily News attested the Shining star’s retirement from acting.
“Jack has — without fanfare — retired,” an unnamed insider was quoted as telling Radar Online, according to the New York Daily News.
Radar Online noted in a report that the Batman star is suffering from memory loss, also seen as the primary reason for his retirement.
"There is a simple reason behind his decision – it's memory loss," the Telegraph UK quoted a source as telling Radar. "Quite frankly, at 76, Jack has memory issues and can no longer remember the lines being asked of him".
The news has been debunked in various news outlets. Citing ITV.com, USA Today noted that the news of his retirement from show business is “100% false.”
Jack Nicholson has had a very impressive career as he has been a great contribution to the entertainment industry for five decades. And for over 60 years as an actor, he has received numerous nominations for Best Actor at prestigious Academy Awards. He is best known for his role in "As Good as it Gets" (1998) and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest"(1976). He also nabbed elusive Best Supporting Actor from The Academy for his roles in "Terms of Endearment" (1984) and multiple nominations for the category in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
Other films he’s known for include “The Little Shop of Horrors” (1960s); “Chinatown,” (1974) “The Shining” (1980); “As Good as It Gets” (1997).
He was last seen in “The Bucket List” (2007) and “How Do You Know” (2010).
Nicholson has admitted being “such a perfectionist,” that he would feel at times, that he “could have done” things differently when faced with what he deemed as “failures” in his very much celebrated career.
"I take responsibility for my successes as well as my failures. But when I look at my professional mistakes, I'm always left with the feeling that maybe I should have done more," Nicholson said in an interview with Esquire Magazine early this year said, the Telegraph UK.
Despite numerous assertion of his retirement, fans and followers are still in the dark on whether or not Nicholson has indeed bid adieu to acting. A source close to Nicholson shunned rumors of his retirement.
One thing for sure, we will still see Jack Nicholson in Lakers game for years to come.
