Miley Cyrus did not even know that what she was doing at the VMAs would shock anyone.
The VMAs were held this year in Brookly's Barclays Center and among the acts to take place on stage was Miley Cyrus. She had performed her single "We Can't Stop" with matching life size bears on stage. Twerking to her song in a teddy bear inspired onesie before stripping to skin toned barely there latex two piece.
Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke
The singer tweaked and sang along to "Blurred Lines" with the stud himself, Robin Thicke. What really shocked the crowd? Well, try grinding your hips to a married man making suggestive promiscuous poses with huge foam finger-this was what the performance was all about.
Right after the performance, people started tweeting and giving the former Disney child actress a lot of backlash.
"I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times. You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it 'cause that's just me!" said the singer in an interview that was done with MTV.com after her "wild" performance.
She had also said that anyone who had ever performed for the MTV Music Awards have always wanted to make history:
"How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna's done it, Britney's done it. Every VMA performance... anyone that performs, that's what you're looking for. You're wanting to make history"
Remember the controversial VMA performances over the years? Madonna in her 1984 VMA's performance of "Like A Virgin" that shocked everyone. In 2004 the queen of pop, Madonna and the princess of Pop music, Britney Spears locked lips while dancing to Madonna hits. If anything at all these are what performers are and president Van Toffler of Viacom Media Networks Music & Logo Group was pleased with Cyrus' performance saying:
"It was a wonderfully chaotic mess of unforgettable performances - everything you could hope for as a producer of a live music show."
Well Cyrus really did have a knack for controversy if anything critics are trying to compare her to how Britney made the VMA's exciting with her coming out as a grown up to get away from the "good little girl" image.
"Me and Robin the whole time said, 'You know we're about to make history right now. What's amazing is I think now, we're three days later and people are still talking about it. They're over thinking it"
Well what do you think, did they?
