'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Fans Desperately Want Matt Bomer as Christian Grey [PHOTOS]
Matt Bomer had long been eyed by countless fans for the part of Christian Grey. However, the official casting news that was announced by none other than E.L. James on Twitter broke a lot of hearts. Fans are still desperately rooting for Bomer to be cast as Christian Grey in the film adaptation for "Fifty Shades of Grey."
The "Twilight"-inspired fan fiction written by E.L. James has certainly come a long way since it's' release in 2012. After selling more than a million copies and earning $90 million from sales, "Fifty Shades of Grey" continues to be the most hyped novels. With the film set for release on August 1, 2014, E.L. James erotica novel is sure to continue being a trend worldwide.
Months of speculation regarding a cast had ended just a few hours past. The author took to Twitter to announce the news as to who among Hollywood's hottest had nabbed the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Of course, the producer's picks came as a shock to fans of the BDSM-themed novel. True to what Dana Brunetti claimed, some fans were highly disappointed.
Charlie Hunnam of "Sons of Anarchy" and Dakota Johnson of the "Social Network" had signed on to play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele respectively. Only a few readers were pleased with the choices but some were clearly outraged. Almost every reader of the novels had eyed Matt Bomer for the lead part of Christian Grey alas the part had fallen to the hands of Charlie Hunnam.
Utterly disappointed with the casting, fans had started an online trend demanding Matt Bomer replace Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey. It's unlikely possible for producers to change their cast now especially with the film set for shoot in just a few days.
Fans will just have to deal with the choice of E.L. James and the production studio. As for Bomer, the "Suits" star still has a chance at playing Christian Grey's older brother, Elliot Grey.
