Record Arsenal signing Mesut Ozil immediately outlined his reasons for joining the Gunners after completing his £42.5m move on transfer deadline day; to win the Premier League under Arsene Wenger.
After a summer where the Gunners struggled to secure the world class names needed to help the club end their eight year barren trophy spell, they secured the biggest deal of the window in bringing the Germany international to the Emirates from Real Madrid.
Having promised to bring a marquee signing in this summer Wenger has delivered in acquiring the playmaker's services and the 24-year-old is eager to repay the faith which saw Wenger make him the club's most expensive player of all time.
"I look forward to my future with Arsenal," said Ozil, who has signed a five year deal worth a reported £140,000 per week.
"In talking with Arsene Wenger, I immediately sensed what had been missing, the whole hearted trust in me. I will pay back the club and the fans in each game. Now I want to help the club to finally win a title."
Prior to the final day of the transfer window, Arsenal's only other incoming transfers where 20-year-old Yaya Sanogo and former Gunner Mathieu Flamini, both whom arrived on free transfers.
Having missed out on previous high profile targets in Gonzalo Higuain, Luiz Gustavo, Luis Suarez and Karim Benzema, Wenger believes the club have remedied those near misses with Ozil's triumphant arrival.
"He is a great player, with proven quality at both club and international level," Wenger told the club's official website. "We have watched and admired him for some time as he has all the attributes I look for in an Arsenal player.
"I have said throughout the summer that we have been working hard to bring in top quality players. Mesut is a top quality footballer who will be a fantastic addition to our talented squad. We are all looking forward to him joining up with us after his international matches with Germany."
The news of Ozil's arrival sparked jubilant scenes from those waiting at the Emirates for good news in the dying hours of the summer transfer window last night, delight that was also shared by Arsenal players Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla who took to their Twitter accounts to celebrate the transfer.
