Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell has pleaded not guilty to a string of child sex offences including rape and indecent assault.
Le Vell, 48, from Trafford, appeared at Manchester Crown Court accused of 12 offences against a girl. The charges included rape, indecent assault, sexual activity with a child, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
Charged under his real name of Michael Turner, the actor, who has played Kevin Webster in the popular ITV soap for 30 years, stands accused of committing the offences with one complainant between 2001 and September 2010.
The girl cannot be named for legal reasons.
Le Vell previosuly said he intended to "vigorously" fight all allegations against him.
ITV said the actor would not be appearing in any further episodes of Coronations Street until legal proceedings conclude. He is one of the longest-serving cast members in the popular soap.
The father-of-two separated from his wife, Janette Beverley, last year.
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
