A British man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his father in a fight at a holiday camp on Spain's Costa Brava, police said.
The 45-year-old was arrested in L'Estartit, a seaside town on the north-east coast of Spain, after allegedly attacking his 69-year-old father.
A security guard reportedly called police to the Castell Montgri camp, near Girona, after an argument broke out, local media reported.
Police arrived to find the suspect's father lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He had suffered serious head injuries, the El Punt Avui newspaper said.
He was taken to Josep Trueta hospital in Girona but died on Friday morning, triggering a murder investigation by Catalan police.
It is not thought any weapons were used in the lethal attack.
A police spokesman said: "Officers from the Mossos d'Esqudra have arrested a 45-year-old British man in connection with the death of his 69-year-old father.
"The incident took place this morning at around 1.45 in a camping site in L'Estartit when the arrested man is believed to have attacked his father.
"The victim was taken by emergency services to hospital to be attended for the wounds he suffered, while local police in Torroella de Montgri arrested the alleged perpetrator for domestic violence.
"The victim died this morning and investigators from the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan regional police) took on the case."
The incident took place at the Castell Montgri campsite.
The resort, which is named after a nearby medieval castle and located at the foot of the Rocamaura mountain, is a popular tourist destination.
Castell Montgri's website says the camp, which is at the entrance to the village, offers a "beautiful natural setting" and "stunning sandy beaches".
A post-mortem to establish the cause of death will take place on Saturday.
Police have yet to name the dead man or his son.
