Gareth Bale has reportedly agreed personal terms with Real Madrid as he edges ever closer to his world record move from Tottenham Hotspur.
The BBC reports that the 24 year old is now on the verge of finally completing his protracted move to the Spanish giants, but he must first wait for the two clubs to agree a fee before he can be officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player.
"While talks in Madrid took some days, this was always a formality," claims BBC reporter Dan Roan. "The agreement over personal terms has no bearing on the timing of the actual transfer being announced."
It is believed that Madrid have presented Tottenham with two different options; one that would include instalments that would eventually eclipse the £80m they paid for Cristiano Ronaldo, the other a bid close to £70m which would be a one-off payment.
Now it is up to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to decide which deal he would prefer as it seems Bale could finally become a Madrid player within the next 24 hours.
"The conclusion of talks over personal terms is separate from negotiations between Real Madrid and Spurs regarding the amount and structuring of a transfer fee," added Roan.
"All that remains now is for Spurs to formally accept Real Madrid's offer and to agree on simultaneous announcements."
Bale has been linked with a switch to the Bernebeu throughout the summer and it seems Spurs are finally ready to accept Madrid's offer after completing a deal for Erik Lamela - a player earmarked to be a direct replacement for the Wales international.
The 21 year old was confirmed as a Tottenham player on the club's official website just one day after Roma confirmed that they had accepted an offer for the winger.
"Roma announce they have signed a contract with Tottenham for the outright sale of the playing rights of Erik Lamela, in exchange for €30m. The agreement also includes the obligation to pay €5m in bonuses related to the achievements of the player and the English club," read a statement on Rom's website.
Lamela becomes Tottenham's record signing and is Andre Villas-Boas' sixth signing of an exciting summer which has seen the club significantly bolster their squad.
However, Lamela may not be the final signing as Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen is also said to be on the verge of joining the club after the Dutch champions admitted that he was due to make the move to White Hart Lane before the transfer window closes on Monday evening.
