Brendan Rodgers says there are a number of clubs who would be interested in acquiring Fabio Borini on loan, but the Liverpool manager insists the striker will not leave this summer.
The purchase of Iago Aspas has increased competition up-front this season and after Borini suffered from an injury-ridden first season at Merseyside, the Italian is yet to prove he was a worthy signing.
But Rodgers has faith that Borini will produce this season and insists that despite the interest in the striker, as it stands he won't be leaving Liverpool under any circumstances.
"Not at this moment in time," Rodgers told the Liverpool website when asked if Borini would depart the club before deadline day.
"There would be a queue of clubs wanting to take him if he was available. We want to keep a strong group - it's a very long season for us. You've got Daniel (Sturridge), Fabio, (Iago) Aspas and Luis (Suarez) to come in a number of weeks.
"We want to make sure the competition in the group is there, especially at the top end of the field where if you have a goalscorer it's always good to have."
Rodgers also insisted that Borini is happy at Liverpool and wants to fight for his place on the squad, despite recent reports claiming that the 22 year old might consider going back to Italy for more guaranteed game time.
The manager explained: "He's very settled here, he's fighting to improve his performance level. He's doing extra after training with the coaches.
"Any player wants to play games, that's why they become a footballer - to play in the games. He's continued to work hard, he's not just satisfied. He's eager and hungry when that chance comes to prove he can get goals."
