Liverpool are reportedly planning a move for Serbian teenage sensation Richairo Zivkovic.
The 16-year-old, dubbed the new Arjen Robben, plays in the Eredivisie with Groningen. The forward has been attracting attention from the Reds' scouts for some time now and, according to the Express, the Merseyside outfit is now considering an approach for the player.
Zivkovic also holds a Dutch citizenship. The youngster made his debut for Groningen's first team in December last year, becoming the youngest player ever to represent the club's senior team.
Groningen president Hans Nijland had recently stated Liverpool are leading the clubs who are looking to sign Zivkovic and also revealed the Reds are regularly sending scouts to watch the forward.
"All the big clubs in the Netherlands are interested in him but Liverpool scouts are particularly active. They are constantly watching us," Nijland had pointed out.
Despite being eligible to play for the Netherlands, Zivkovic has now decided to represent his mother's home nation of Serbia, after watching the country's U-19 team win the European Championship earlier this summer.
Meanwhile, Liverpool defender Daniel Agger claims he will look to captain Steven Gerrard for inspiration, following his appointment as vice-captain.
The Denmark international was handed the role by manager Brendan Rodgers following the retirement of veteran defender Jamie Carragher and goalkeeper Pepe Reina's season-long loan move to Napoli.
"I always have responsibility, no matter if you're vice-captain or not. You have to always be there, always be at the front and, of course, try to help some of the young players," Agger stressed.
"Now I have been here for almost eight years and Stevie has been the captain all the way. He is an amazing captain, he is the one I will look at. Not only in his football skills, because that speaks for itself, but the person he is and the way he treats people - he's just the best," the 28-year-old added.
Liverpool are understood to have rejected an offer from Barcelona for Agger.
