With the transfer window in England nearing its deadline and most of the teams are satisfied with the players they have, it is almost safe to say that each team's current roster may be used as a basis for their performance in this year's grandest football league, unless something drastic happens.
The "Special One"
Chelsea Football Club is one of the leading candidates to win the premiership this year mainly because of the hype arising out of the return of the "special one" Jose Mourinho.
But, what are those factors that could set Chelsea apart from the other clubs, and could win them the league?
The presence of veterans like John Terry, Frank Lampard, Petr Cech, and Ashley Cole, who have played and won almost all, if not everything, that there is to win in club competition are not only valued assets inside the locker room, but is also key in providing guidance to up and coming youth superstars Andre Schurrle, Oscar, Kevin De Bruyne, and Marco Van Ginkel.
Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, and Gary Cahil, among others, when healthy, are those few players who could provide solid anchoring from the back.
David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta, on the other hand, capitalize on their versatility. They can be relied on when transitioning from defense to attack and for additional players going forward. They are reputable themselves as well.
Finally, the defenders can focus on their roles because of a familiar face standing in front of the wood-work, Petr Cech, who is still in his prime and is capable of making astounding saves.
Youth and Quality in Midfield
The signings of Schurrle, De Bruyne, and Van Ginkel are significant because not only does it lessen the burden in midfield and provide more creativity, it also revitalizes the team, as a whole.
Two-time Chelsea player of the year, Juan Mata, will be a familiar feature in Mou's squad because of his dazzling skills and his goal-scoring ability, especially from long range.
The new reign, on the other hand, should spark Eden Hazard's career anew.
Victor Moses showed signs that he cannot be overlooked by the new manager because of his great performances in the pre-season campaign which could only do good to the team because of the competition it will mount as the season progresses.
Mourinho, who is regarded as one of the best manager, is going to use his tactical superiority to fill up the gaps for whatever deficiency that the team has.
More than strategies, Mourinho is known as a great motivator who is able to get the best out of the players under his wing and realize their full potential. Such is the case with Lampard et al in his first stint with Chelsea, who have grown to be world-class players.
Wesley Sneijder was in, what seemed to be, the twilight of his early career when the "special one" first set-foot in Milan, but with the latter's ingenuity, he was able to spark a revival to Sneijner's Career.
In the case of Cristiano Ronaldo, people were thinking of what else could he do that was not done in Manchester United, when he left for the Bernabeu. Jose, however, was able to guide the Portuguese to record breaking performances in the past few seasons.
With almost everything in place, the special one is definitely going to rule the Premier League.
