Amid a report last week that smartphones outsold feature or dumb phones in Q2 2013, CNET hinted that the Seoul-based firm has three smartphones up its sleeves. The basis of CNET is an article by tech Web site SamMobile which quoted a shipping manifest from India with three model numbers and screen sizes.
The listing are for SM-G3815, SM-G9105 and SM0G7102 and their respective display sizes are 4.5 inches, 5 inches and 5.2 inches. The manifest includes SM-G730A which refers to the older Samsung Galaxy Mini S3 which has a 4-inch screen.
The Web site said the SM-G3815 is probably an entry-level or mid-range gadget with a screen resolution of 960x540 pixels, while SamMobile said that based on the UAProf stings on Samsung's mobile Web site, the SM-G730A will have the standard WVGA screen (800x480) common among other Samsung 4-inch devices.
The SM-G3815 will sport a qHD (540x480 resolution), which means its pixel density would be lower than the GS4 Mini and S4 Zoom.
The report of three new phones come just less than two weeks for the anticipated unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch and Galaxy Note 3 phablet two days before the IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin, Germany, and six days before the rumoured roll out of the Apple iPhone 5C and 5S on Sept 10.
