To say that the iPad Mini 2, reportedly coming out with a high-resolution Retina screen panel, will become a monster hit following its supposed release date in late 2013 is not an exaggeration.
It is a reality just waiting to happen and not without a precedent. Recall that when Apple issued the first iPad Mini, experts were dismayed by the specs - no Retina, mediocre chips and RAM plus a high price tag at $330.
But the device sold like hotcakes, easily outpacing the better Android devices like the Kindle Fire HD from Amazon, the 2012 Nexus 7 build from Google and the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 from Samsung.
These notable Android challengers had their moments last year but what they offer fell short of what are ingeniously packed with the first Mini, which should be the same packaging that will lure millions into the iPad Mini 2 once it comes out.
Below are the reasons why the Mini 2 is a surefire Dealbreaker like its predecessor:
The pull of the iTunes Store
In re-checking why the iPhones and iPads easily outsell their Android counterpart, Travis Pope of Gotta Be Mobile pointed to iTunes and the impressive contents that the application delivers via the iOS devices.
The first Mini may have underwhelmed in specs by other devices but at the end of the day "users don't care about blazing fast processors when their operating system is optimized for their hardware," Mr Pope wrote. Apple's ecosystem is the natural consumer gravity that Android rivals have yet to equal.
"Similarly, they don't care about large 1080P displays when they've got the easiest and largest content library the world has ever seen," the same GBM report added.
A wide collection of tablet-optimised applications
The 2012 Mini launched with more than 300,000 applications, all exclusively authored for tablet use, supporting its worldwide circulation, according to Apple Insider. This vast library of mobile apps dwarfs over its Google Play counterpart, which counts close to 800,000 apps but only a fraction of them are tablet-optimised.
As Apple so often touts, tablet experience with the iPad is simply unmatched because consumers are given a menu that exceeds one's imagination.
The iPad satisfies different folks with different strokes
A new report by Apple Insider explains why the iPad model, both the 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch variants, are highly popular. The slates meet the need of many people regardless of what use they have for the iOS devices. The iPad usability supports seamless functions that professionals and ordinary housewives equally appreciate.
It is an invaluable tool for business, for education, for road navigation and simply for having fun while listening to music, watching movies and engaging via social media sites while on the go, according to Apple Insider, quoting analytic firm Flurry as its source.
Analysts have predicted that the iPad Mini 2 will be launched simultaneously with the slimmed down iPad 5 on late October with the release date to immediately follow by early November, which is the pattern employed by Apple with the 2012 editions.
