According to reports, the Deepika Padukone-Shah Rukh Khan starrer has broken all records in the neighbouring country. Mohammad Qadri, media spokesman for IMGC which is the largest distributor of Indian films in Pakistan, said the film has grossed more than ₹40 million since its release.
"I can't give the exact figures now but the initial estimate of ticket sales for the week since its release Chennai Express has grossed over 40 million rupees. The figure will be higher when the final figures of ticket sales for all over Pakistan are available by Monday," Qadri told PTI news.
There is huge demand for "Chennai Express" in Pakistan because of which theatre owners have increased the ticket prices. In some circuits, the film is being screened more than five times a day.
Meanwhile, in India the film is raking in amazing collections even in its second weekend. On the second Friday and Saturday, the film raked in ₹6.75 crore and ₹8.51 crore, respectively.
