A still from the forthcoming Assassin's Creed: Black Flag from Ubisoft (Ubisoft)
French games developer Ubisoft has stated that its forthcoming titles Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag have received more pre-orders for the unreleased next-generation (Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One) games consoles than on current-gen PS3 and Xbox 360.
According to Alain Corre, Ubisoft's European, Middle East and Africa Chief, the shift from current-gen to next-gen consoles will be faster than the last time, reports MCV UK.
"The fans are really excited to get their hands on the new technology," stated Corre. "It has been eight years without a home console from Sony or Microsoft so we feel a lot of excitement from our fans for Watch Dogs or Assassin's Creed IV. The pre-orders we are getting are much bigger on our next-gen games. So we feel that the transition might be quicker. There is a real appetite for change."
However, the company declined to disclose exact numbers for pre-orders.

The UK retailers informed last month that more buyers are expected to stick to current-gen consoles as the next-gen consoles lack number of game titles. However, Corre is against the notion and expects Assassin's Creed IV and Watch Dogs to feature in top five games in future.
"We expect Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag to be well accepted. When we look at our pre-orders on next-gen, we think these two games can feature in the top five," he stated.
Corre thinks that the superior quality of next-gen games will revitalise lapsed gamers and will bring new customers to spend more time on "interactive entertainment".
