After two decades, Bollywood director Lawrence D'Souza is once again set to enthrall the audience with a sequel to his 1991 superhit film "Saajan".
According to reports, the sequel to the romantic film, which featured Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt, will feature a younger lot of known actors. The film will go on floors in 2014.
Announcing details of the new project including the plot and the casting, D'Souza said, "The scripting is done. The basic idea of the film is the same - a love triangle - two heroes and a heroine. We want big stars for this film. We would go with a younger lot of known actors. We do have few names in mind," Press Trust of India reported.
The title of the film is yet to be announced. The director revealed that he intends to commence the shooting of the sequel in Kashmir.
D'Souza, who also directed films like "Sapne Sajan Ke", "Sangram", and "Balmaa", went on to say, "I had thought of remaking the film when people started asking me to remake old blockbusters."
"Saagar", which was declared the highest grossing Bollywood film of 1991, also had Laxmikant Berde, Kader Khan, Reema Lagoo and Pankaj Udhas in special appearance. The songs of the film including "Dekha Hai Pehli Baar", "Tum Se Milne Ki Tamanna Hai", "Bahut Pyar Karte Hain", "Tu Shayar Hai", "Jiye To Jiye Kaise" had become chartbusters.
The film was produced by Sudhakar Bokade, who breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on 7 July following a heart attack.
