American Idol 2013 Top 5 will tackle two themes Thursday on Fox. Each contestant will sing two songs, one each from "Divas" and "Songs from the year you were born." Top contender Candice Glover is covering Mariah Carey's and Whitney Houston's "Miracle." For the second them, Glover chose Paula Abdul's "Straight Up."

Candice Glover and Kree Harrison made the Top 2 in last week's results show. In the bottom two was aspiring pop diva Amber Holcomb. Angie Miller and Janelle Arthur were safe, although the latter got quite a beating from the judges. American Idol judge Nicki Minaj dished her strong opinion to Arthur, saying the rest of the girls in the Top 5 are way better than her. Still, Holcomb got the lowest votes among the girls.

Glover's Adele-inspired cover of "Lovestory" by The Cure was a showstopper last week. If any doubts were cast about her voters, things got clearer as she landed on the Top 2 with Harrison. Glover could actually win the competition if she keeps on taking powerful dramatic songs.

Harrison has been consistent on the Top 2-3 contestants favoured by voters. In the end, she and Glover could throw the best girl power Idol finale showdown in several years' time. Could Glover beat her to the finale? Only if Glover could show a little bit more personality - if the Idol producers would give her that chance. Glover is often perceived to be too serious in the competition. Harrison, meanwhile, can exchange fun sexy banters with Minaj while maintaining a naturally charming vibe. If Glover couldn't be more relatable to the viewers, perhaps sticking to power songs only could secure her a Final Two spot. (Are Melinda Doolittle No. 3 memories haunting you now?)

Idol 2013 6th placer Lazaro Arbos can now rest his vocals and prepare for Idol tour. He was sent home last week after getting the least number of votes. His family and followers are hoping the young man could redeem himself after some troubled performances in the last few weeks of the show.
