Duke’s loss to long-time rival Maryland on Friday in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament could send the Blue Devils across the country to the West Region bracket rather than staying East. Indiana, Gonzaga, Louisville, Michigan, and Kansas are the five other teams in contention to land a No. 1 seed.

However many "bracketologists" have pegged Duke, Indiana, Gonzaga, and Louisville as No. 1 locks.

Before the conference tournaments began, 27-4 Duke held the nation’s top RPI ranking, just ahead of upstart New Mexico and now-Big East champion Louisville. ACC regular season and tournament champs Miami and Big-12 winner Kansas round out the Top 5 of the nation’s toughest schedules.

Still the Blue Devils were 4-2 against ranked opponents this season, which may have put them in a more favorable bracket before they fell to the Terrapins.

No. 3 Indiana won its first outright Big Ten regular season title in 20 years, and were ranked No. 1 in the nation longer than any other school this season, but it’s resume may have taken a hit after falling to No. 22 Wisconsin in the conference semifinals Saturday.

Gonzaga earned its first No. 1 ranking in school history two weeks ago, and hasn’t relinquished the top spot since. The Hoosiers lost four times while ranked No. 1 and Duke lost once, which may strengthen the 31-2 Bulldogs argument for the top overall seed.

The show begins at roughly 6 p.m. Eastern time, depending on when Ohio State and Wisconsin wrap up the Big Ten title game and will be broadcast by CBS.
