3,000,000: Number of Syrians who have been displaced internally, according to the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre.

876,240: Number of registered refugees living in other countries. UNHCR estimates that the real number is closer to 1.1 million.

70,000: Number of people who have been killed due to the conflict, as estimated by the U.N. in February.

500: Number of children killed during the first year of fighting.

2,000: Number of women and girls who were treated for rape by just one doctor in Damascus in the first year of fighting.

60: Percentage of land the rebels now control, as of December 2012.

12: Minimum number of countries that directly or indirectly support Syria's current government, according to a report published on Saturday by Human Rights First titled “Enablers of the Syrian Conflict.” According to the report, these countries, or private entities within them, include Russia, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, Angola, South Africa, Georgia, Lebanon, Cypress, the UAE, Italy, and Germany.

50,000: Number of Revolutionary Guard troops that Israel claims Iran has sent to fight on Assad's behalf.
