Inter Milan have reportedly agreed terms with Alexis Sanchez over a summer move. La Gazzetta dello Sport believes the Barcelona forward will take a pay cut to move to the Giuseppe Meazza.

If true, the news will disappoint Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool, who were believed to be scouting the Chilean international with a view to bringing him to Anfield. Inter's domestic rivals, Juventus, and English champions Manchester City have also been linked with a move for the 24-year-old.

Sanchez has made only 10 starts in the Spanish league this season (19 appearances overall) and has only two goals and four assists to his name. His place in Tito Vilanova's side has been taken by Spain international Pedro Rodriguez, following a disappointing dip in form. The South American had an explosive first season with the Catalans after he joined in 2011, scoring 15 goals and recording five assists from 41 appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool Link

Rodgers is believed to be a big fan of the powerful Chilean and the introduction of Sanchez to the Anfield first team would have given Luis Suarez and the attacking line a big boost.

Sanchez could even have been acquired as a replacement for Suarez; the Uruguayan's exceptional form has seen interest from City and Bayern Munich. Rodgers is aware of the magnitude of the task before him - to retain Suarez's services despite the strong possibility Liverpool will not qualify for the Champions League next season.

Rodgers on Liverpool's Resilience

Meanwhile, Rodgers has also commented on the Reds' form in recent matches and said he was particularly impressed with the character shown in the 3-2 home win over Tottenham.

"I certainly thought that resilience was something in the team that could be improved. There's no doubt that the consequence of our work on and off the field as the season has gone on has allowed us to gain more confidence in games," he explained, adding, "You're not going to have everything your way, especially in big games. Sometimes you will be on the ropes and sometimes you will be on the canvas."
