Was it a Freudian slip? Or did he simply misspeak?

While unveiling his newest budget proposal on Tuesday, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., appeared to “accidentally” say something his critics believe to be fact.

“This is something we will not give up on because we are not going to give up on destroying the healthcare system for the American people,” Ryan said.

The slip of the tongue was pretty egregious, considering the proposals outlined in his budget. The plan aims to reduce the federal budget deficit in the next decade, in part by gutting $1.8 trillion from the Affordable Care Act.

The congressman’s plan has also been criticized for restructuring the federal Medicare program into a voucher system that would allow beneficiaries to use government subsidies to purchase private insurance, rather than remain on the government program.Paul
