Microsoft is hoping to attract more students by offering free access of the online version of its office application.
The Office 365 University version will provide four-years of cloud-based office service with subscription fee of $79.99. It will give access to Office application such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access.
Students with a .edu email address will get three months free access to the Office 365 University including 20 GB of online storages in SkyDrive and 60 minutes of Skype calls each month.
Microsoft also offers three more months of free access for those who share the offer on Facebook after entering their .edu email address on www.officeforstudents.com. Student's who wants to redeem the offer also needs a Microsoft account to install and manage Office software on cloud.
However if a student does not have a .edu email account, the Office 365 Home Premium application is available for subscription fee of $99.99 annually or $9.99 for a month.
The company endorsed Park and Recreation actress Aubrey Plaza and released a comical ad to promote the offers (See video below).
Back in January, Microsoft released the online version of Office 365 application to rival cloud storage system, Google Drive.
The Office 365 is also available for business users with three new versions including Office 365 ProPlus, Office 365 Midsize Business and Office 365 Small Business Premium.
