Earlier this month, the Waterloo-based company released its first update of BB10 operating system. But it was only available for BlackBerry Z10 owners of Rogers, Fido and Telus carrier services in Canada.

The latest group includes the Bell in Canada, Vodafone in the UK and Bouygues Telecom in France, but many other carriers are yet to get the update, according to CrackBerry.

BlackBerry suggests checking the OS update manually from device Settings and following the on screen steps to install new update. The update is available over-the-air and is about 150 MB, so the company recommends updating with secure Wi-Fi connection.

The OS update comes with several improvements including improved video playback, better Gmail and many more. Insider BlackBerry, the official blog of BlackBerry, has posed major improvements in the OS update.

Third party application performance has been improved. Now developers will be able to build faster and smoother app to give better experience for the smartphone users. The company also stated that new improvised app such as WhatsApp Messenger will be launched soon.

This update brings improvements for Gmail calendar on BB10 smartphones and also to the BlackBerry Hub for call logs which display how conversations are handled.

The Camera too acquired major update with improved performance in low-light situations and better video playback on browser.

The software team has included a number of battery life optimizations with over 60 percent battery saving improvements since its launch. These combined improvements are designed so that users can see improvements in battery life.  Heavy users especially should see a longer average usage per charge cycle.
